Holding of the 4th International Homam Festival for Artists with Disabilities in the Fields of Visual Arts, Handicrafts, and Music (Individual and Group)
In continuation of previous years, the 4th International Homam Festival, dedicated to the artworks of artists with disabilities, both domestic and international, is scheduled to be held from the beginning of November of the current year, for a duration of eight days, at the Iran Academy of Arts, Tehran – Iran, with the presence of national authorities as well as prominent cultural and artistic figures, in a dignified manner. Disability is a social phenomenon and an inevitable reality of human society. This artistic event will be organized by a non-governmental charitable organization (NGO).
It is further noted that, according to extracted data, more than one billion people worldwide and eleven percent of Iran’s population (approximately 10 million individuals) are among the community of persons with disabilities and constitute the audience of this artistic event. Through this inspiring festival, and by relying on the successful experiences of previous years, we endeavor to create new opportunities for artists with disabilities, both domestic and foreign, across diverse artistic domains in a competitive environment.
Moreover, it is respectfully stated that the process of this prestigious artistic program will include: the call for artworks in the fields of visual arts, handicrafts, traditional arts, and music; evaluation of the submitted works by distinguished jurors in these fields; exhibition of selected works; sale of artworks for the benefit of their creators; and ultimately, the introduction of outstanding works and presentation of valuable prizes along with the Festival Award Statuette.
The main objectives of this remarkable event include: identifying, introducing, and enhancing the artistic skills of persons with disabilities; empowering them in artistic, social, and economic arenas; strengthening self-confidence and inspiring hope; creating vitality and joy within the target community; and contributing to the development of mutual participation.
