Updated: Jul 25

The International Folk Art Market (IFAM) marked its 20th anniversary with an unforgettable celebration of art, culture, and community from July 11-14, 2024, in Santa Fe, USA. As the world's largest gathering of folk art, IFAM showcased the resilience of cultural heritage through world-class artistry, performances, and culinary delights.

This year, Santa Fe, renowned as a UNESCO Creative City, provided a picturesque setting for IFAM. Artists from diverse corners of the globe converged to exhibit their unique creations, fostering global fellowship and economic opportunities amidst challenging global dynamics.

Throughout its history, IFAM has fostered a strong partnership with the World Crafts Council AISBL (WCC AISBL), dedicated to promoting global fellowship and creating economic opportunities for artisans worldwide. This collaboration highlights IFAM's commitment to supporting artists and communities, particularly during challenging times of economic, political, and global challenges.

Recently becoming an official National Entity member, IFAM has strengthened its collaboration with WCC AISBL, aiming to enhance the WCC-Award of Excellence booths during the event. Mr. Saad al-Qaddumi, President of WCC AISBL, met with key figures including Ms. Judith Espinar, Founder of IFAM; Ms. Stacey Edgar, Executive Director of IFAM; and Ms. Carol Lopez, Advisory Board Member of IFAM, along with the city mayor and officials who enthusiastically support Santa Fe's bid to apply for and receive the title of WCC-World Craft City, in addition to UNESCO's title of Creativity City.

Santa Fe's local community, together with strong support from city and state leaders, embraced IFAM's mission to celebrate handmade crafts. The event's success was a testament to IFAM's cultural and economic impact, bolstered by endorsements from New Mexico's U.S. Senators and Representatives.
