International Folk Art Festival “Suzani of Panjakent”

The World Crafts Council AISBL (WCC AISBL) is pleased to bring attention to the upcoming International Folk Art Festival “Suzani of Panjakent” and the Official Award Ceremony of Panjakent as “WCC-World Craft City for Suzani Embroidery”, which will take place on 12–13 December 2025 in the culturally rich city of Panjakent, Tajikistan.


Organized under the auspices of:


●        H.E. Emomali Rahmon, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Founder of Peace and National Unity – Leader of the Nation


●        Tajikistan National Commission for UNESCO

●        Municipality of Panjakent


This distinguished festival is dedicated to celebrating, safeguarding, and promoting the traditional folk arts of Tajikistan, with a special emphasis on the renowned craft of Suzani embroidery. This intricate art form represents a vital part of Panjakent’s cultural identity and heritage.


A major highlight of the event will be the Official Award Ceremony marking the designation of Panjakent as a WCC-World Craft City for Suzani Embroidery. This prestigious recognition honors the city’s exceptional craftsmanship, its long-standing artistic traditions, and the commitment of its artisans to preserving and advancing the heritage of Suzani embroidery.


This milestone represents a significant achievement for both the city and its creative community.


The programme will include a series of cultural and academic events, such as:


1.     International Scientific and Practical Conference

“The Art of Suzani Embroidery: Problems of Preserving Traditions”Featuring experts, scholars, and artisans discussing the challenges and future of this traditional craft.


2.     Panjakent Suzani Exhibition

A showcase of the city’s finest Suzani works, celebrating its craftsmanship and artistic legacy.


3.     Tajikistan Artist Exhibition

An exhibition presenting works by artists from across Tajikistan, highlighting the diversity and richness of the nation’s artistic expressions.
