61st Foundation Day of WCC AISBL

61st Foundation Day of WCC AISBL
61st Foundation Day of WCC AISBL

Today is our 61st #Foundation #Day! And without the #people behind this global #organization, we could not have reached here.

World Crafts Council, is celebrating its Global #Craft & #Cultural Legacy after completing diamond jubilee last year.

Founded on June 12, 1964 by #visionary #leaders Mrs. Aileen Osborn Vanderbilt Webb, Mrs. Margaret Merwin Patch, and Smt. Kamaladevi Chattopadhyay at World Congress of Craftsman in New York. This organization has come a very long way.

Over these six decades, WCC has evolved from an intent for well-being of Craftsperson, to a global network of craft communities creating world’s largest craft organization, affiliated with #UNESCO and spanning five regions—Africa, Asia-Pacific, Europe, Latin America, and North America, reaching artisans in over 108 countries.

Its #mission has expanded from #cultural preservation to #economic empowerment, #sustainable development, and global cooperation, with flagship programs like World Craft Cities, Award of Excellence, Seal of Craft Authenticity, World Crafts Forum and many others reshaping how crafts are valued and experienced worldwide.

Today, we honor the enduring legacy of all the stakeholders and recommit to the WCC’s vision: to empower #artisans, strengthen crafts #community, celebrate cultural diversity, and drive sustainable & #innovation#inclusive growth, #policy and #strategic directions through the power of craft.
